On Friday, April 8, 2016, Dave didn’t know what hit him. And neither did Stef, for that matter, because wow — what a hottie she thought he was! Who was this fun and slightly cheeky woman who just walked up to him on the dance floor at De Hallen? We started talking (just like Rach and Bernt 😉), and it was clear this was going to be an unforgettable night.

We moved on to the Waterkant, where kissing followed pretty quickly. After the lights went out there, the twin sisters and the guys continued on to Weber. That evening, Dave and Stef immediately had a joint mission: making sure Rach and Bernt would kiss too. After quite some time (!!!), it finally happened. And luckily, Stef forgave Dave for thinking — after all those hours — that Stef’s name was Jennifer!

it finally happened.

And luckily, Stef forgave Dave for thinking — after all those hours — that Stef’s name was Jennifer!

We exchanged numbers. That Sunday we met up in Westerpark, which was lovely again. Mondays were always Stef’s regular gym evening, but that day at the office she could only think about Dave and decided to text him to see if they’d go for drinks after work at the Ysbreeker. To this day, Dave says: that’s when you had me.

That evening was amazing, but also intense, because Stef told Dave about her father. Dave spontaneously said: I would really
like to meet him. Of course, Stef loved that, and so it happened. Thankfully, Gert-Jan and Dave were able to see each other a few more times.

And oh yeah — just two weeks after they met, Dave and Stef moved in together on the Tilanusstraat. He came over to help take care of her cat Tux, because Stef spent a lot of time with
her father then, and after that Dave never left. It truly was
love at first sight!

Stef taught Dave all about the art of traveling, spending money, and not overthinking but just doing. Dave taught Stef how beautiful walking through Amsterdam can be, to not take life so seriously, and to just enjoy life to the max. Together they went through a lot — from job changes to several moves — and now they are blissfully happy in Haarlem!
